Yesterday, I got a bruise from accidentally knocking a door hard against my knee at work. The mark of my carelessness is still visible till now. In fact, the bruise appeared to be worse than it was yesterday. Eventually though, I know that it will be gone.

Looking at the bruise though makes me wonder about another that may not go that easily or so soon when it appears. I'm referring to a bruised ego, specifically in instances where rejection is concerned. Does everyone suffer from it when let's say for instance, u kinda like someone and let them know but they don't share the same feelings that you do for them? How will someone approach the person that they like then subtlely, without scaring them off or being told "not interested" as soon as they are told?

I guess as we become more "mature", we tend to approach it more cautiously than when we were young and carefree because of this. Back in the younger days, sending someone little notes to tell them of your interest (guilty of that) appeared to be the norm. Even the channel of "word of mouth" worked coz we were more willing to take the risk. Now though, the fragility of the ego (plus embarassment, i suppose) is a major issue especially if we are of the female gender. How then do the modern, mature women of this generation express their interest to someone that they really, really like? Juz wanna know. Really and truly have no clue......If anyone has suggestions, please let me know. They might come in handy .......some day, I suppose.
