I don't really watch local movies much but I guess that will change after I watched "The Leap Years" yesterday. A lot of publicity was made about the movie and that made me curious to watch it. I guess I was more determined to watch it after rave reviews from people I asked. After delaying it for weeks, not so much because I lost interest, but more so because I was caught up, I finally watched the movie yesterday with my sibs and Lady Rockish. And I must say I was not disappointed.

Set as a love story between the main character (Li-Ann) who decided to ask a virtual stranger (Jeremy) on a date on February 29th (that happened to be her birthday too), it followed her journey through her romantic encounter with him, deciding if he was the right one, and her struggles to be with the person that she had chemistry and just felt "right" with. The ensemble cast potrayed strongly the characters, led by Wong Li-Lin as Li Ann and the hunky Ananda Everingham as Jeremy. It opened with Joan Chen as the elder Li Ann narrating the events of her past. As you watched, you would be drawn in to the events unfolding before you in the film (more so if you are in the same situation as Li Ann). What really struck me and I guess, most of the audience, was the letter that he wrote on her wedding day. (supposed to be the 4th leap year and the 12 years after she had met him. Ah man, that's it. The dam that I was so trying to control just broke. I'm kinda sensitive to sad events on film. I can get emotional and it was one of those times. Heard lotsa sniffles in the theatre too. I wouldn't reveal the ending but must tell you that it's a must watch. Makes you feel swayed in the moment once in a while.

On a happier note, I'm quite happy with how I did for my first TMA. Didn't expect it but give me inspiration to "jia-you." Looking forward to something this weekend - can't wait. Wanna catch a movie again soon. See what's available. For those who haven't watched "Leap Years", go catch it ok. You won't be disappointed. C ya guys and have a great week ahead.
